Justin and Elliott Anderson
Brett helped my wife and I buy our first home. Going into buying a house, I knew that Brett had knowledge of the housing market in the greater Nashville area. I saw him post listings of successful deals he’d had, which I think was a good initial tool for confidence building. He was constantly sharing houses that he thinks would be a good fit for potential buyers. Seeing his social media before we were even seriously looking for a house made me want to work with him.
Once we got into the process itself, he was very good at listening to our wants and needs from the first time we met. His listening skills led to less wasted time on the back end. He had a good idea of what we were looking for. He knew what we didn’t necessarily want to compromise on. He took that initial meeting and from there it seemed like we were more dialed in and on the same page as far as what type of houses we needed to look at and what areas we were targeting.
Brett was very timely with his communication. Early on we definitely had many questions so any time we asked him about something he was quick to either reply to texts or pick up the phone and call if it was easier to communicate that way. We were kind of on a time crunch during this process. We probably had a month and a half to two months before we needed to be out of our apartment. He was very good at being timely with all responses and didn’t hesitate to reach out for anything that he needed from us. I was very happy with the efficiency of the entire process. Every conversation that we had was meaningful and productive.
We’d look online on Zillow just to see houses that were a good fit for us. Usually what we’d do was send those houses to Brett. We were usually viewing those houses within 24 hours after reaching out to Brett. We never really had to wait. He was able to set up viewings pretty much instantly. For a few weeks we were looking at houses every day or every other day. We probably looked at 8 -10 houses in a 2-2.5 week period. He was very good at setting up those viewings so we could get in there and get a leg up. I feel like a lot of the houses in this market, if they are a good deal they are going to have offers within a day or two after starting the viewings.
When we started putting in offers, we had a few offers that didn’t get accepted. I thought Brett was good with his creativity on what we could do to make us stand out or give us a leg up on our competition. I think that had a positive effect on the house we did end up closing on. I think he was creative on our offer and that put us a bit ahead of the competition in comparison to the other offers the house we bought had.
Once our offer was accepted, then he started using his network to help us out. He set us up with a Mortgage Loan Officer who had a high level of experience regarding the Doctor Loan. She was perfect for what we needed. From there, the title company was seamless. The home inspector he recommended came the day after our offer letter was accepted. We weren’t able to be at the house when they were doing the inspection, so everything was video recorded. They had a great synopsis on everything we needed to maybe look out for or touch up. He’s even given us recommendations for contractors. Pretty much every step of the homebuying process, he had a great network of people to recommend.
The further along we got into this process and the closer we were to closing, again the communication was just very key. For example, he was great at overcoming any challenges that we incurred. We were closing on a Tuesday, and the weekend before closing, I had to leave town for a family emergency and we had a little bit of a hiccup about an interest rate that we had agreed on. Brett knew I was with my family and couldn't be in great communication with him at the time. He took the lead as an intermediary for the communication with the loan team while I was with my family. That just showed me the compassion he has personally, not just professionally. A very tough time for myself was made a bit easier just because of him going that extra mile of handling a good amount of that when we were nearing the finish line. That was one of the things that stood out most to me. Again, not just professionally it showed me how much he cared about us as clients.
Going in to the homebuying process, I didn’t know a ton, but coming out, I definitely feel more prepared for the future. I definitely exited the process more confident and knowledgeable about buying or selling a house in the future, and I would definitely work with Brett again.
